DC was way worse in the days of Marion Barry than it is today. What is happening in DC today is nothing compared to how it was in the 90s. Crime is still crime, but let’s put it into perspective.

Why must it be in perspective? Why not expect the “low crime” of 2008-2018? Why should anyone accept some crime rate that is less than the “worst it’s ever been”?

Residents should expect more from their bureaucrats and not accept high crime rates. Life is too short to go a decade with spiraling crime.

Yea they need to do more to deal with the crime there, I agree. You were the one that brought up the Marion Barry days so I figured I would contrast that time versus today. You can still go into DC today without getting robbed btw. DC is seeing a rise in crime, but it is nowhere near this mad max dystopia that many on here try to paint.
