Exactly and why I say once we are all done being mad and upset about this, what is going to be done to deal with the issue mentioned in her slip up/mistake, whatever one wants to call it or in her apology? I'm more concerned with making her accountable and bringing results.
Until these parents actually raise their kids nothing will change. It's really that simple but saying it is political suicide.
Better funding spent efficiently for schools would help. So would not having closed the schools for almost 2 full years during covid.
But as long as the parents don't care and don't stress education a lot of it is just largely peeing in the wind. And to make matters worse these kids make it almost impossible for the few kids in the class who actually want to learn to do so.
This comment also just shows how out of touch so many of these politicians are. There was some truth to this comment 20 years ago but time marches on. In 2024 these kids all have Internet access and computers.
Hochul is a joke, why is she even our govenor?
she is an idiot.
Because you're an idiot and all of NY are full of idiots for voting for her. I was never high up on her because of her lack of experience and constant pandering to any complaint. All the rich fools that voted for her and ended up getting sued because she expanded the victims act to allow women to sue for anything as old as 40+ yrs ago and still eligible to sue. And look at P.Ditty being sued and Mayor Adams also sued for stuff 30+ yrs ago. She's too woke, she will destroy NYC and hopefully when Trump is POTUS she will be on her knees.
NY Public Public schools have had 1:1 Chromebooks since at least the pandemic. In other words, every single public school student in the Bronx has his or her own school-issued Chromebook from K-12. Including all the Black kids.
Not to mention long before Covid - the library system offered computers to any kid who didn't have their own. That's been at least 30 years now. And if you are in The Bronx - you can even go to all the libraries in Manhattan. The governor was obviously clueless. There is no one in high school in the city of NY who has not had to use a computer in the 2000's. Unless she thinks all black kids in The Bronx dropped out before they got to high school.
I don’t think most of you realize just how many dumb kids are in the NYC school system. I’m talking dumb, dumb. Like in 9th grade but on a 3rd grade level.
Take this article and work backwards. Remember. These are the ones who graduated. 20% don’t graduate at all. Now add another 40% on top of that. Also remember. CUNY ain’t have high standards to begin with.
Quote:
Nearly half of NYC DOE grads at CUNY need remedial classes

Sure I remember growing up they had the city wide tests that were graded by percentile. The kids who got a 50 were basically the boot lickers and they still did better than half of the kids In the city in the test.
But all kids in 2024 know what a computer is and how to use one.
They might not be able to contact to ten but they can use a computer.

Not sure when you grew up but it is much worse now. When NYC was more uh "European" and dumb kids and their parents weren't coddled, the dumb kids were segregated and school administration tried to make it so they had as little impact on the normal kids as possible. When I went to school here suspensions were still a thing, both in school and at home. Doesn't work that way now and that's why the NYC school system has become a joke.
Take even the official statistics with a grain of salt. They're not accurate. It's even worse than the statistics portray.

Kids are more dumb everywhere in the US. That's why US students are falling behind there peers. That has nothing to do with the topic of whether even the poorest kids know how to use a computer in 2024. In fact - too much electronics has dumbed down kids at all income levels.

Kids aren’t dumber everywhere. It’s just that the dumb ones tend to congregate as the non dumb ones flee schools/districts. It’s just more apparent nowadays, especially in NYC.
The NYC DOE is :
42% Hispanic
24% Black
17% Asian
15% White
Now take a look at many districts in Westchester and Long Island.
