That is certainly true, Aeran. but not everyone can brush it away. Worry is hard wired into us by evolution, obviously as a protective, albeit uncomfortable, way of getting through unpleasantness.
Perhaps it helps us see things to avoid in time to avoid them?

Sometimes I'm in an industrial area for work, and the drivers around there don't even stop at stop signs -- like they barely slow down.
I'm also a driver sometimes so it's not like I only have the perspective of a pedestrian. It's just when I drive I stop at stop signs unlike these crazy drivers.
Anarchy. It will be impossible to defend your home against mobs.
