10 Billion for a new bus terminal. (New York, Hudson: leasing, condo, employment)

If NYC/S decides it doesn't want 8,000 diesel buses coming through the Lincoln Tunnel every day, they may not have a choice, at least if they want to work in Manhattan.

Hochul should use her seats in the PA board to push this. The PABT is for the benefit of NJ and the detriment of NY. I also bet NYS could use it's authority in it's own state the block the project and shut down the terminal.
This isn't something that happened this week. The design was approved and settled upon some time ago. What DID happen this week is that the draft Environmental Impact Statement was submitted, a major step in getting final approval, which is why the public that hasn't otherwise been paying attention is "suddenly" hearing about it now. If Hochul was going to stop it, she would have done that long ago already. It didn't get this far without her OK.
Yes, I know. The PA had a public hearing. I went and spoke againt the rebuild project. It was a bad idea then, and still is.

The extended 7 line. Take the bus to the Meadowlands, or other NJT train station, and change for the subway or other train.
Hudson Yards is a full three long blocks from Penn Station. You know that there are folk in the city that commute out, as well as Jersey folk commute in, right?
The proposal to get rid of the Port Authority Bus Terminal makes no sense, even from the New York perspective.
Oh, if you're proposing extending the 7 into Secaucus, the Port Authority that's supposedly so hated in New York would have to agree with that, as well as the MTA. And how long will that take to be built....?
The PA is half controlled by NY, but looks out for NJ first. This is an example of that. NY needs to start exerting itself in.that agency.
The reverse commuters could use the extended 7 line also.
And if you've ever been to the neighborhood the PABTsits in, you immediately realize ust how much sense getting rid of the PABT makes. It brights the whole area, keeping it as a crime ridden slum. Get rid if the Bus Terminal, and that neighborhood goes up in value instantly and enormously.

"Crime ridden slum." Last time I checked, a bunch of luxury condos have gone up around the tunnel, and the pier is having some activity, such as the Intrepid, Lobster Boat and some other party boats that dock there! Renovation of the bus station is appropriate and necessary! Prevent cost and deadline overruns? Yes. NY exerting itself in the PA? Yes. Redo? Yes. Extending the 7 train? Yes. Getting rid of the bus station? NO!

Ha, you should have seen that neighborhood when I worked at the PABT in 1979/early 80s!
And a good laugh over your first sentence. People in NJ say the exact opposite.
The area around Port Authority isn't great, but crime ridden slum it is definitely not.
