In most of those places you would die of boredom. You also have a long drive to high paying jobs.

What concerns me is future growth and ruining the culture, mainly in the southern part of the Missouri Ozarks. We're seeing growth in SWMO, Greene County a lot, Branson and nearby areas.

These areas have lakes and are also mild climates. Already seeing retirees from other states moving there like from Commiefornia. Eventually I can see it growing a lot in SWMO. Already happening in Eastern TN which is similar in ways.

Mild climate and cheaper than places like FL for people who want a change of seasons but not bone chilling cold.

I've noticed houses south of springfield also going up in price a bit around Branson. Eventually prices will go up more as it becomes more popular.

Two MO house seats very narrowly have went Democrat the last few years in Greene County. That's almost unheard of. Redistricting I know is a factor too though.

But you are unlikely to do from violent crime, as the video points out. And the people attracted to small town/rural life don't need a lot of the entertainment you might find in large cities.

Those are all metro suburbs for all intents and purposes.

Carl Junction is almost a suburb of Joplin and, growing up in Joplin, everyone from CJ came to Joplin for most things (sometimes Pittsburg, KS) and I'm sure it's still similar. You couldn't pay me to live in Nixa (nearly a suburb of Springfield now). Your best bet for income there is meth. And Jackson is so remote I cannot imagine there is much to do there and it is almost a part of Gape Girardeau.

If I had to live in Missouri again it would be Columbia (again). Living in fear of what-ifs is not a life I want to live. I lived in the Columbia area for 23 years. The secret, just like any other city, is to not go to the bad parts of town, esp. at night.

Sadly, it is a well-known fact that rural MO has problems with meth. If I ever return back to Missouri, I really like Columbia and Mid-County in St. Louis Metro, such as Kirkwood, Webster Groves, and Rock Hill.

In southeast MO, Jackson outside Cape Girardeau is very nice and affordable. I have family living there.

Both Kansas City and St. Louis have nice suburbs if you are willing to commute for higher paying jobs.

I would visit often but you couldn't pay me to live in Springfield, Branson, and the Lake of the Ozarks region. Same goes for the Bootheel.
