version 117 removes "transfer" of firearms from the language.

You are right, it doesn't take a lawyer to see that the language is fouled up, and it would make section 23 "self contradicting."

Crazy thing is, it would have been easy for them to avoid that pitfall.
Which is terrible that ag Bailey and Ashcrof t approved this. Under MO law they needed to reject this like they have done with other initiatives. They didn't uphold their oath. Remember that in the governor primary next year

Gotta be thrown out in court. Not constitutional. Jimmie Edward's a former judge wrote it lol. What an idiot he is ha!

Depending on which version, it might be better to let it go through. Let them waste time and effort, only to have it struck down.

(Other reasons, too, but that would be for DM only.)

Too bad St. Louis circuit judge Robert Dierker is retired now. He's considered pro gun which is rare in St. Louis. He could issued an injunction on this before becoming law if it passed. Would go before the MO Supreme court then.

The anti gunners did this in 2003 when ccw veto overrode and rare but Ag Nixon allowed the pro gun lobby with the best lawyers defend the law at the MO supreme court. Imo Nixon wanted to look good for a future governors run so he didn't want to appear anti gun.

One term Bob lost because he vetoed ccw.

Many democrats pleaded with Bob to not veto ccw because it would cost them. He did anyway and that led to Matt Blunt as governor and Claire losing.

You are discussing more of MO history than I can follow, but something similar happened in TX, when Anne Richards vetoed CCW, ending Democrat reign in TX, and bringing George W Bush into office.

Anne Richards was very conservative in most things (she would be a Republican today), but that one item changed the course of history.

Also kinda how Jim Talent narrowly lost to Holden in 2000. Remember Jim Talent voted for the AWB as a REPUBLICAN. I think that turned off just enough voters to not vote at all or vote third party. Many probably didn't know Holden at the time would be anti gun.

Remember Mel Carnahan, Southerner type governor claimed he was neutral on conceal carry lol? Prop B in 99 failed for a number of reasons. Mainly voter fraud, but if passed it would have allowed the state under a democrat admin to make the rules to get a ccw basically and could have made it impossible to get one. 2003 was a much better law.

Amendment 5 passed with 61 percent in 2014 and the state is more conservative now. I just can't imagine UNsensible MO even come close to passing then. It would be the laughing stock of the nation then. lawmakers could do what they did with Clean Missouri and reword it and they put it back on the ballots following year and repealed it.

You are still too deep into MO politics on this, remembering that I am in AR (although within walking distance of MO), and 6 years ago, I was in TX.

We should probably give this a rest until we see what the Leftists do next.
