Going geocaching with mountain bikes near the Gunflint Trail Northern Minnesota
Superior National Forest

These are areas that were burned in the 1997 fires, notice how the fire has swept clean the rocks leaving them bare or moss and lichens
There is a cache here and I found it

The view is such and incredible sight to see, many years later, the new growth is allready well underway

Border Route trail near the Minnesota Canada border, about a mile up the round trip is another gecache we will go find.

Many fire scarred trees, about halfway to the cache

Laurentian Divide, wooden deck used to have air moneriting station here

Grand Marias, Minnesota

Artist Point, many have come here for healing and inspiration

Thank you for coming along on our day trip

May 15, 2010 brings the Minnesota fishing opener, but instead we again find ourselves doing something we much better prefer, being out in our canoe, away form all others, and in this case just being alone together, bird watching over in Kimberly WMA.

A great spot to stop for shore lunch, before continuing on another couple of miles, about six miles round trip back to the truck

Nice five point deer shed found at another stopping place along the way

This trip is going to take all day, sigh...

I live in Western Minnesota, and my main travels are to SW MN and SE MN. Here are a few pictures. The first three are pictures from New London on the Crow River where at this point looks more like a lake.

The first three photos are from around the Wood Lake area. It's a very small town near Granite Falls.

The rest of these photos are from the town of Granite Falls:
