And we can't forget the Feeding Our Future group who donated heavily to DFL (Democrat) candidates. Their $250 million fraud is notable for being missed by the DFL-controlled governorship, legislature, and state Department of Health.

Gee, what can be done??

So, to answer the OP's question, i.e., topic of the thread: No, you aren't getting bad info about the political life in Minneapolis and St. Paul.

Wow, what a weekend!

According to CrimeWatchMpls, this weekend there were:

86 automobile thefts (31 in the Lakes and Uptown area, 21 in South Minneapolis, and 17 in NE and SE Minneapolis)
16 robberies (3 carjackings)
76 assaults
20 Shotspotter activations
51 thefts (stolen purses, items snatched from cars, larceny)

It sounds like a few organized groups are going around and doing the bulk of the crimes.

I don't read the Star-Tribune so I wonder if they are reporting these.

People in cities with high crime become numb to it knowing that other than to just get it recorded on their insurance policy, in most cases after reporting the crime, nothing will be done about it.

Worse yet, if someone is arrested and they know you're the one who reported it, you can become a target for revenge. They might be on your front door the very next day after being released. So, it's often not reported. Since it's not reported, it doesn't become a statistic. Then, the politicians can brag on how crime is going down compared to years before when people actually WERE reporting crime.

Criminals in the Twin Cities know they have a get out of jail free card. This is what happens when your police department is neutered by brainless politicians voted into office by "progressives". Not very progressive in my book.

We'll have to see how the elections go this year. I know that Rudy Giulani "cleaned up" New York City by being tough on crime and even lesser things, like having the graffiti painted over every night.

Stopping minor infractions, like graffiti and subway turnstile jumping, is part of the "broken windows" theory. If you show all of the people that you are serious about keeping the city safe, then most will cooperate. Unfortunately, once the good times are taken for granted, then the soft-on-crime pols get elected and things go downhill again.

Currently there is a batch of virtue signalers in office. And the high-crime core's elected federal rep is running around NY City supporting Hamas. My neighbor is of the same race as she, but he and his family fled her district because, he told me, he was tired of hearing gunshots in the 'hood where his small children were trying to play outside.

Yesterday afternoon a Minneapolis police officer was gunned down in an ambush. The loose Defund the Police rhetoric has had its consequences.

A Minneapolis police officer responding to a shooting call was ambushed and killed Thursday when he stopped to provide aid to a man who appeared to be a victim. That man instead wound up shooting the officer, authorities said.

The death of officer Jamal Mitchell happened during a chaotic situation involving two crime scenes two blocks apart that left three people dead, two others hospitalized in critical condition and another officer and a firefighter with less serious injuries.

"I've seen the video, and he was ambushed," Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension Superintendent Drew Evans said at an evening news conference. "I'm using the term for a reason."

I used to go to the Twin Cities at least once a year. The last time I was there was just before the Saint George Floyd incidence. I did drive through it without stopping on my way to Duluth and northern Minnesota though (love that area).

I still see my Twins games, down in Kansas City. I've been to 5 games there in the past few years. Kaufman Stadium is a wonderful SAFE ballpark, although I do think that Target Field is a little bit nicer park. Shopping there is more pleasant than the Nicollet Mall. There isn't anything at Mall of America that can't be bought elsewhere. Malls of any size don't appeal to me anymore.

I'm just one of many who have lost the anticipation of going to the Twin Cities. Congrats. to the city leadership (or more accurately, LACK of leadership) for destroying a once very fine metro.

Yeah, I hear you. I also note that on Monday of this week, Memorial Day, it was reported that over 100 cars were broken into in Minneapolis alone. There must have been some MD activity that brought the prey into the city for the predators.

Finally some good news. Hennepin County attorney Moriarty dropped her ridiculous criminal charges against State Trooper Ryan Londregan.

In January, Moriarty brought three felony charges against Trooper Londregan, including second-degree unintentional murder. The charges were connected to a July 2023 incident where Londregan fatally shot [criminal Ricky] Cobb after he began to flee in his vehicle during a traffic stop, briefly dragging another state trooper who was attempting to remove him.

Since then, an initial use-of-force expert left the prosecution, multiple State Patrol trainers issued sworn declarations that Londregan acted in accordance with his training, the lead prosecutor departed the case, and Moriarty hired an outside team of Washington, D.C. lawyers to manage the prosecution.

Funny how certain politicians "see the light" as elections approach.

Why would anyone want to be a policeman in the Twin Cities metro anymore? There was over 800 police in Minneapolis before the St. George Floyd debacle. Now they're down to 560 even with the big budget hiring campaign. These "leaders" as you know will keep getting re-elected by the majority of fools that live and vote in this city.
