You know, i was in the hospital on Lejeune about a month ago and on the first floor down by the elevators there is a wall with a whole section of pictures with descriptions of past CMH awardees. There's a guy, top row, towards the left side, who was in combat in WW1 (I think the year listed was 1914) and according to the write-up, he served on a submarine, the USS Pittsburgh I think, and they listed the hull number as SSBN-728. Now, I wasn't in quite that far back but I'm pretty sure we didn't have any sub hull numbers as high as 728 and I'm also pretty sure we didn't have any boomers in WW1. I'm sure it's just a lack of attention to detail by the person doing the write-up, but you'd think with it being a naval hospital somebody would've caught it.

I caught one on a huge forum, claimed to be in Nam and a POW to boot... little did he know I have access to certain info. He was NEVER out of the US, ever. I outed him big time (posting the documents to prove it). Nothing worse than someone claiming POW status who is a fake.

I worked with a guy for years that claimed to be a "Green Beret". I had no reason to doubt his claims until my son got into "SF". All it took was a few questions about what "Group" he was in or what his ODA was and I quickly realized he was a poser.

In fact, the true clandestine nature of my service has been modified so much that this isn't even me posting this comment, it is the wind.
