Like when I take the cover off the birdcage and the budgies start chirping their little hearts out.
Their way of saying "Good morning mama."
I can't even describe what joy that brings me.
Birds are the greatest! They bring so much joy into life. We have reflective sliding doors, so the birds come right up to it to check out their "competitors". They are just inches away sometimes. Then in the evening, a flock of black birds comes down to the infinity pool and take baths on the edge. Others swoop down and take a beakful without landing. And I love the white egrets in their stealthy stalking through the vegetation.
Another simple joy for me is the luxuriant bougainvillea that covers our garages out back. When I exercise in the "office" that is my view and I am thankful to God every time I get to see those gorgeous colors, all year long. Nothing but flowers out my window.
Some of my happiest times were just cuddling my little pet chicken. We'd go down to the barn together and she'd catch insects and I'd swat flies for her, serving them up on the fly swatter. Good times. I sure miss her.
A simple life is the best and as I have gotten older, the more I appreciate a simple life.

I'm doing well also, I'm recovering from an illness but I'm almost fine now. I'm in Southern Ca, like you Forever Blue. It's very green here after all the rain. Just lovely. I'm more into reading these days.
why doess it have to be a rescue dog, why cant it just be a dog, like a stray, or neighbor having puppies. it seems like their an agenda that you cant have a dog unless its a rescue. like the woke community has invades the rescue shelters
Absolutely, enjoying the simple things in life, savoring the moment, is what I spend lots of time doing these days. I consider those things gifts, to be opened one at a time, and appreciated for what they are. Also has the added benefit of helping to keep one's sanity in this crazy world.
I have birds too and they bring me and my husband so much joy. I don't have to cover the cage at night. Once it's dark they are quiet. I have 2 finches. I had 5 at one time but sadly 3 passed away. I also like to ride around and look at houses. In my neighborhood some of them are near the water and I drive around and look. At Christmas time I like to ride around and look at Christmas lights. I also enjoy sitting on my front porch with my husband and looking at the birds that come on my lawn.
