I have been getting some great opinions from this forum, thanks to all who have posted replies.

Re-cap:
I will be working in Easton. Considered other areas, but due to long commute times, I am thinking now of the following parameters.

South of 93
West of 24
East of 95
North of 495

Opinions on best town when considering Schools, shopping, overall area? I have been told by some, that if I go North of Easton, I will just be paying for proximity to Boston and nothing else. True/False?

My desire for proximity to water, will have to be satisfied via a drive now and then. Thanks to you all.

Looking at a map, that looks like Sharon, Stoughton, Canton, Easton, Mansfield?

I still think Dedham (on the fringe of those parameters) fits your bill. Easton itself is nice too but without the downtown of Dedham. Come to think of it, Mansfield may work too. Canton is a nice town, but it doesn't have a great town center.

Sharon has good schools; it doesn't have much of a town center but there is lots of chain stores, etc. on Rte. 1 not too far away. Shopping will improve greatly if Sharon Commons is ever completed...

Sharon is a great town. It has a high Jewish population which may or may not be important to you. Mansfield has access to all highway routes, good schools, and a "family community" feel. Foxboro is a wonderful town with a nice little center and lots of shops now at Patriot Place. Norton is a cheap option but the schools are not the best.
