Mayor Lester Miller says the plans include a shopping center, hotel, possible medical offices, and more than 800 homes. He says they'll pay for the land with $10 million in SPLOST funds and more than $3 million from the regular budget, but the county expects it will generate more than $350 million in private investment.
UPDATE- Bibb moves forward with plan for $350M east Macon development; The county will spend $14 million to buy the site of the old Bibb Mill off Coliseum Drive.
"You'll see some commercial property. We've already been in discussion with potential medical offices. As well as parking there. You'll see up to 825 residences there," said Mayor Lester Miller as he presented the plans.
