All your typical retail, construction & medical jobs and nothing more. Lots of meth. Nothing open after 9pm. And don't even get me started on the roads and drivers!
That is sad. I live in the Wichita area and it is also not so good either. The only good thing about Topeka is its proximity to Lawrence and Kansas City areas.

My dad's friend has often complained about how meh of a city, Topeka is. He moved there for some job(can't remember which one it was), and now he's looking to move elsewhere. Rumor was he was looking at Vegas, but not sure where he might move to in the end.

Also whenever I've street viewed Topeka, it doesn't look that good for a capitol city sadly. Even Springfield(IL) is nicer IMO, despite that I know people sometimes rip on that city. To me I think that Springfield actually isn't bad, and is nicer than people give it credit for.

I dont hate it but...it's just sooooo run down looking. With the exception of a few bad areas in KC I would say that in general the KC/Overland Park area and Lawrence dont look that way at all.

The gangs are really good there. Very active and on every street corner.

Many people that work in Topeka live in Lawrence or KC suburbs that are far nicer.
Topeka will never see much improvement unless things change substantially.

It’s pretty sad looking. A lot of these little houses are probably very cold in the winter and hot in the summer from the crappy insulation. Many seem like one room shacks. Pretty depressing.
It seems like the whole town is on the "wrong side of the tracks."

I was in the Army with a guy from Topeka. He was sent home. His brother had answered their door and was shot in the heart. Never did hear the why or the outcome.

This is sad. If I worked in Topeka, I would also want to live in a different city nearby. I am surprised to hear from some people that there is a lot of crime in Topeka.
