So the continuation of the sales tax in Jackson County, Mo was not approved last night by voters.

I think this is fine, as the Royals and Chiefs are not a threat to leave the metro area. Yet.

Both teams gave very few details about how they would use the tax money generated, and offered little in terms of transparency to the taxpayers.

This vote failed because their plan sucked. Not because we don't like the Chiefs/Royals. What really ticked people off was Mark Donovan and Clark Hunt threatening to leave KCMO if the vote didn't pass. What a bunch of tools. The Hunts are historically cheap and approached this vote as something that Kansas Citians should do in order to keep them here.

The Chiefs are not leaving. Not now, not ever. They're an original AFL to NFL team and are incredibly valuable to the Hunts. It's a cash cow. They have NFL leading in market viewership, they own Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska and parts of Iowa. If they did move, they would only move to KCK after fleecing the state of Kansas as much as they could.

Clark Hunt will never move out of KC because it would most likely require him to shell out more of his $ in order to do so. The NFL would replace the Chiefs so fast in KC and urge them not to move out. There has never been an precedent set where a wildly successful NFL franchise leaves a city. The Ravens don't count. They were and still are not anywhere close to the popularity of the Chiefs. The Oilers? A bit closer but both Houston and Cleveland got new franchises.

The Royals I think are the real wild card. I like John Sherman and he's a local guy. He lives in KC and FL. His wife is from KC. He went to Ottawa University. He just paid $1B for the Royals and is willing to shell out another $1B for a downtown stadium. He wants to win, but to be honest it's a lot harder in MLB than the NFL to compete.

Let's get the Royals Downtown and the Chiefs to KS. Let's make it fair for the taxpayers. Let's not let the fear mongering persist from the oil tycoon family from Texas. The Hunts have no problem buying expensive homes, clothes and designer bags for themselves but have the crappiest facilities for their players. That's 100% on Clark Hunt being a cheap azz.

That's all.
