Seeing as how most people shouldn’t be trading at all an overwhelming majority don’t need even longer trading hours. So yes, really.

There are certain scenarios where buying/selling stocks pre-market or after-hours is advantageous, but I do not feel this way about options. Options pricing is influenced by so many variables that are impossible to assess immediately after a news announcement. You want to wait and see how price movements play out before jumping into the options. Time decay between the day before and day of is usually minimal unless the option expires the next day. I know zero-dated options are becoming a thing- personally I think its gambling and an easy way for the casino to take your money.
