Never lived in IN but my extended family was all there. My impressions:

Englewood - Near Eastside/Brookside Park area
Aurora/Joliet - Anderson
Oak Park - Broad Ripple
Naperville - Carmel
Brookfield - Garfield Park
Evanston - Butler-Tarkington

The Near Eastside of Indy doesn't have much in common with Englewood in Chicago, unless your impression is "there are some poor people living there."
