Too bad if it has to be conservative media.

I would not expect people, unless induced, to be able to come in the hundreds of thousands from isolated rural villages.
Word of mouth travels pretty fast. There was one time in the early 80s where it was estimated 20% of this one village in Guatemala and 5% of the province lived in Houston.

But as far as the refugee claims, the Catholic and Christian charities are promoting that as ways that they can't be denied.

Which was only put there because fans of Lazarus lobbied for that plaque.

Lazarus fans should step up to the plate financially.

Pretty interesting interview with a social worker that is working with the migrants. I know right off the bat people will say where's the proof she's really a social worker - I've got none - but let's assume it's the real deal for a minute and just listen.

People do not appreciate what an eloquent man and excellent president he is. He is effective and well spoken. And an athlete.

There will be many signs of greatness, somewhat like the thousand points of light. So many that I cannot begin to list them. Nor will I.

Somebody in a reputation comment directed me to post number 13. I read the second of the two links there. The links point to a generous funding of the immigration bureaucracy. The article does not discuss the ending of the “remain in Mexico“ policy. That policy is fully consistent with the rules of asylum, which is that a person should seek asylum in the first safe country that they reach. In most cases, that will be Columbia or Mexico.

While these places may not afford the social benefits of the United States does, if they are truly in fear for their lives, those would be appropriate places for them to remain. The article does not begin to address the Klondike rush mentality. Right wingers accused them of seeking to import future voters. I think this is a bit far fetched; it is part of an ideology that, as a wealthy country we should give to the world. Before adopting posture, the people who are being asked to pony up their money should be asked.

EDIT: I just read the first article. Basically, both articles seem to agree with my supposition that this is about liberal ideology and not about asylum from persecution.
