This topic got shot down in the great debates subthread. Even though multiculturalism includes both legal and illegal immigration, I put it in this location so we could comment on this important topic.
At their core, people are tribal. They are comfortable around people that look like them and share their culture.
If multiculturalism was a benefit, it would happen organically. As it is, it's being shoved down peoples' throats. The power to be claim it's a strength. But it is always accompanied by a lot of civic strife and times erupts in violent clashes.
Homogeneous nations don't have the level of disharmony found in heterogeneous countries. Legal immigrants of decades past were eager to adopt the culture and values of their host nations. That sentiment no longer resides with the illegal, economic migrants that have been pouring into western nations in the last 2 decades.
Has anyone benefitted personally from multiculturalism?

I have no problem with racial diversity but I do have a problem with a foreign culture taking over our identifying one via massive illegal immigration and that is what is happening in our country today. It's neither natural nor lawful.

Here in our city we have recently we have become 33% Asian, and most are from India, working in tech at Amazon and Microsoft. For our 3 neighbors from India we can hear that they still speak Hindi while speaking to family on the phone, but speak perfect English talking to us. They don't even have that typical Indian-Call Center accent that's hard to understand on the robocalls. They drive the same cars, their kids do the same youth sports, and the assimilate.

The nations of western Europe are about to disappear, culturally speaking. The native populations are having few children, well below replacement levels, and they have admitted millions of migrants ("immigrants" is inaccurate) who are mostly opportunists, not aspiring citizens.
They go where the freebies are. They pass right through Greece and Italy, a few stop in France, but most wind up in Germany and Sweden, which have extraordinary benefits including free room and board, free health care, free money, etc.
These countries are culturally unprepared to take in and assimilate this huge number of people, particularly the ones coming from non-Western cultures in Africa, central Asia, and the Middle East.
Many of them are hostile to Europeans, they despise white people, and they breed like rabbits. They bring a hatred of non-Muslims.
Antisemitism has made a big comeback. The Jews have been driven out of Malmö by the Muslim gangs. Germany, until recently a paragon of tolerance and repentance for Nazism, now boasts no-go zones for both Jews and Christians. France, which has the largest Jewish population in Europe, is experiencing an exodus of about 10,000 Jews per year, mostly to either Montréal or Israel.
I have been studying this situation for a long time now, and I could go on and on.
The U.S. is better suited to taking in large groups, but the Hispanics coming in illegally (along with Africans, Arabs, etc.) over the southern border is unprecedented and unsustainable. Even that melting pot called New York City is being overwhelmed.
Of course, there's a simple solution. Just stop helping them. Stop giving them money, free shelter, free transportation, free cell phones, and so forth. The flood will slow to a trickle. People aren't stupid; if there's nowhere to stay, and nothing to eat, they'll go somewhere else, or stay home.
Multiculturalism and diversity has been detrimental and damaging to white societies and countries. And citizens of these countries did not vote for or desire this. It was forced on them and has caused friction and conflict.
Eastern euro countries aren’t as diverse for a variety of reasons. One being that they secure their borders and enforce their immigration laws while not taking in millions of refugees from 3rd world countries.
Homogenous countries don’t spend $8 annually on diversity training (U.S.). Perhaps diversity would be better suited in 3rd world countries if that’s what the citizens of those countries desired. Integration or segregation shouldn’t be forced. Doing so is wrong and damaging.
