I think there is pain and then there is PAIN. I think if I was fighting for my life or the life of my child, I'd be able to take a good few knocks as well as giving them.
tet, i agree, and if the adrenaline is flowing, most dont feel severe pain,
one time i was playing football, in a local park and broke my ankle, twisted it,,heard a crack,,,but was so "pumped" up i kept on playing, i knew it sprained or broke, but didnt stop.....even punted the ball,,,twice, before i limped away,,,,,drove to the hospital, and dr. took exrays, said it was broke,,
yes it hurt,,,but not severely,
and speaking of pain,,,i like watching the ufc(ultimate fighting championships)
all real stuff,,,,,almost everything goes, and these guys will take a hard elbow to the nose/cheek/eye/ without even an "ouch" or one guy will be in a submission hold,,,say an arm-bar, the arm looks like its going to brake,,any minute ,,and the guy isnt even wincing,,,its amazing how they take the pain,,,,,then hug each other, after the match is over, even if one guy is all bloodied up..

you don't feel the pain until after all is done.....had broken bones sprains and lots of cuts and bruises but the 2 worst pains i can remember

i joined the army at age 17 in 1976 and broke my back at 18
i did not feel the pain that much (lot of morphine) but when i woke up in the recovery room after they fused my spine using part of my hip bone is when the pain really kicked in

Well, a couple of people mentioned some of my biggest pains.
Number 1: Giving birth but having "back labor" before the big moment. No epidural, not even a tylenol. Did that once, remember it like it was yesterday, and never did it again. I remember feeling like "The Hulk". It's unbelievable what a 98 lb weakling can do when you have no choice.
Number 2: toothache!!! Maybe that should have been #1.
I have no qualms about taking any painkiller to avoid tooth pain.
I've never broken a bone. I did chip a front tooth rollerskating when I was little and sliced a piece of skin off my shin on my male cousin's "big boys" bike once. I used to like to climb trees too. Fell smack on my butt a couple of times on ice and my head bounced off the ice iceskating one time.
I am a huge chicken when it comes to pain and I really think my pain threshhold is very low. I'm a whole lot more careful in my old age.

I have broken bones, sliced my feet open but nothing and I mean nothing compares. My hubby ket telling me I'd be ok. Yeah right ... you go push a ten pound bowling ball with shoulders through your pee pee and tell me it's gonna be ok!
Pain: watching my wife give birth to our first child Realization: gonna be a long time before she let's me touch her!
Pain: watching my wife have a C-section with our second child Realization: this is the last child she will have. gonna be a long time before she let's me touch her!
Conclusion: get a vasectomy and buy her jewelry and flowers (in that order)
Didn't need the jewelry or flowers but I gave him the option of the doctor or the vet for the snippy job
