It has just happened to me tonight - I just scratched my eye and the contact went up deep into the top eye lid.

I tried unsuccessfully for 30 minutes, and was about to give up and get a taxi ot the A&E at Bightons Royal Sussex County, where they have a separate building with drop in facility for emergencies for eyes. I went before when it happened the first time and my eye was so sore I felt I had no choice but to go, despite not wanting to waste then valuable NHS time.

This time I thought that I must do it myself. I got a torch and asked a friend to shine it close at and angle to the top under the lid which I had managed to grab hold of and pull out and up a little. It resembled the end of " Clockwork Orange" but I managed to see the end of the lens and with my little finger managed to drag it, it the moved to the side of the eye and then I could drag it along the eyball to the centre of the eye and then get out as usual.

I'm sore right now and probably will give it a few days before I put them back in.

I wear the 30 days continuos wear lenses - £75 for 3 months supply, I can't recall the manufacturer right now, as under eye stress!

Hope this helps.

Grant, Brighton, Uk

Not sure if this has already been posted, but when you "lose" a contact, put another one in. This will pull the other contact out from behind. I put the new one in, wait a minute, then pull it out. The old one should come down pretty quickly....

Smile I have a secret in getting your contact out

I've skimmed thru all these 6 pages and noticed not one of you all mentioned the secret in locating your contact when it goes lost in your eyeball. Take your fingers and pull your eyelid forward as much as you can. Then spit 3 times in the sink and whatever is in your eye, or your contact will come forward. This is no joke. I don't recall if my Mom (R.I.P.) told me this or what, but it works when my contact gets lodged in the back of my eyeball. I've been wearing contacts for like 30 years or so, and now and then mine goes wandering somewhere in my eyeball. Let me know if my solution works for you. Good Luck

Me too.
I've been thinking of getting them, then I think not. I would like the freedom of wearing some non-prescription sunglasses because there's more to choose from in the way of frames and not have to shell out mega bucks for them so I get to wanting contacts again,... until I read lalopeaceout's post

I had the same problem happening to me twice. I tried to remove the contact lens at night and all of a sudden it disappeared. I always put a white towel underneath to protect my lens in case that it falls. I couldn't find it anywhere, and I couldn't find it in my eye. Next day, the same thing happened again. I have lost two contact lenses, the same eye, I have not been able to find it, and it disappeared apparently inside my eye. I do not feel any irritation in that eye, and I am wearing a new pair today. Is it possible that the lenses are still inside my eye? This is very weird. I do not want to call my doctor, because I am going to sound stupid, I just want to wait to see if I have any irritation on that eye, or pain, or whatever. Please, if anything similar has happened to you, I would love to hear your advise. I wear acuvue 2.
