I went to the hand specialist who did a surgical procedure not simply to remove the cyst but also to close where the joint fluid was leaking from. This was a year ago. I saw a dermatologist before I went to the hand specialist and he diagnosed it but sent me to hand specialist for treatment.
Looks like a mucus cyst usually associated with osteoarthritis not rheumatoid arthritis....popping it can lead to a deep infection since this fluid communicates with the joint...
As for the "taste" of the fluid.....I don't even want to go there..
