Hey there – my husband had triple bypass surgery eight weeks ago. His recovery was going fine, but three weeks ago his legs started aching - both legs from hip to ankle. He says it feels like he bicycled 60 miles. After numerous tests, one of his doctors can give us any ideas on how to stop the pain or even why it has started. Has this happened to anyone else after heart surgery? TIA!

Yes! I ended up getting stents to open 2 different blockages. My vein specialist said legs should never hurt as bad as mine did. I've always had RLS (restless leg) but this after my CABG (2017) and TAVR (2019) was much worse than the RLS ever was. My only option was another heart cath and then a repeat when the first didn't fix my symptoms even after adding 2 stents. The 2nd time another blockage was found in my femoral artery and a stent opened that up and improved my symptoms. I still have RLS but my legs are much calmer today than they were before those stents.

My second booster shot of moderma in Nov 2021 caused my severe leg pain to this day and have to use wheel chair or walker.
Thru testing with EMG the femeral nerves in my in my legs were damaged never came back, the one in the groin which affected nerves in thigh did come back after a long period.
I cannot drive and only walk 15 feet because of pain and no balance.
I was given two opiate drugs which has caused memory loss.I was treated by a nueroligist.
I am 91 fortunately and put home in trust account for my daughter,a senior, along with my vehicle and bank account.
Very miserable way to spend my life, along with death my wife of 68 years to dementia,a cruel deasese.

Could be just aching muscles as he gets more active after being laid up for eight weeks of convalescence. That should get better rapidly.'.. also Low Back Syndrome from laying/sitting around.

Could be from venous blood flow changes after using leg veins for the by-pass. Swelling in the feet/legs?

Was he just started on statins for cholesterol? ,..frequent side effect.

Blood clots from laying around are a possibility, but that's usually just one leg and lower down.

Severe arteriosclerosis in illiac &/or femoral arteries needs to be checked.

Slow internal/pelvic bleeding when on anticoagulants?

TIA, by definition, looks like a stroke but goes back to normal in less than 24 hrs.
