For the first time I COVID-19 according to home test I did today. First time I ever tested too based on the fever and itchy throat I that started early Tuesday morning. Yesterday it was around 99 F but at night it got to max 101. Hung around late 98 to 99 F today.
46 year old healthy male. No smoking and drinking. Work out 3x in the gym and very fit with low body fat %. I am up to date on all my COVID vaccines as well as the Flu shot.
I took generic TheraFlu before sleep last night so that helped a lot and I was also sweating.
Current temp is at 100 F. However I feel like I have 99 F. I have more energy today then last night. Throat is feeling better.
Doctor prescribed Lagevrio (molnupiravir) 200 mg but even with insurance and discount it’s $427. Paxlovid is $30 but it interacts with other medications I take. I was told to get prior authorization from doctor to see if drug cost could be covered. Not sure how long that will take. Pharmacist doesn’t think I think to take the medication based on me feeling better today.
Any suggestions?

My understanding is that an antiviral like Paxlovid will only help if you use it promptly "Like all antivirals, Paxlovid works best early in the course of an illness—in this case, within the first five days of symptom onset, says Jeffrey Topal, MD, a Yale Medicine infectious diseases specialist who is involved in determining COVID-19 treatment protocols for Yale New Haven Hospital patients.".
If there is a drug interaction problem for Paxlovid, would it be safe to temporarily stop the other medication(s) while you use a course of Paxlovid? "The standard dose is three Paxlovid pills twice daily for five days for a full course that adds up to 30 pills."
One thing to realize is that the experience of people who have Covid-19 is highly variable, ranging from scarcely being aware of it, to a fatal or debilitating encounter. It sounds like your primary care physician advised you to take an anti-viral, right? Can you not afford the medicine? I am afraid no one on the internet is going to be able to predict what your course of disease will be, even if they're a doctor, so if you can afford the medicine, I'd suggest you follow your doctor's advice and go for it.
If the medicine is just financially out of reach, I think it's typical supportive care for a viral infection - stay warm, drink plenty of fluids, get plenty of rest, eat healthy (lots of veggies and fruits, multivitamins - as directed though, no megadoses). Continue to monitor your temperature and use acetaminophen or ibuprofen for fever - again, use only as directed though. I believe your TheraFlu has acetaminophen in it. If things worsen, contact your doctor.

I don't know anyone who was prescribed that medication and only a handful that took Paxlovid. Half of them had relapses and their covid came right back.
I wouldn't be scared. The pharmacist gave good advice. You're feeling better. Most of us got through covid fine in a few days without meds or complications.
We kept a pulse oximeter on hand to make sure our oxygen levels were good. And we used some home remedies, used mouthwash and Xlear, a nasal spray.
"The highest risk of severe COVID-19 illness was associated with obesity, anxiety and fear-related disorders, diabetes with complication, CKD, and neurocognitive disorders."

On top of all this, stay home. The CDC walked back its isolation guidelines, but you're still sick and potentially contagious, so proper hygiene and masking in public is the right thing to do.

I take Carbamazepine 200 mg for nerve pain. Cannot stop
That. Also, take Paroxetine 37.5 mg for my OCD/Anxiety.
97.5 F now but still feeling a little tired and some itchy throat. Classic common cold/flu symptoms. I also have sinus allergies.

Hope you continue to feel better!
No issues with breathing. I can monitor my pulse. I thought the EUA med is suppose to stop replicating the virus?
