I had an ophthalmologist who many didn't like personally but he was highly skilled, taught other docs and was an expert witness in court. I figured a few minutes a year for a checkup wouldn't kill me. And over the years, he warmed up, at least to me, probably because I was one of the few who kept coming back! He eventually did two surgeries on me. I figured he was grumpy because he worked in the same office as his wife, an ophthalmologist!

I think a lot of docs are grumpy because the insurance companies are paying less and less. They are also forbidden from using some therapies because they aren't approved even though they work.

An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure and why we all need to be proactive with our health.

I've used doctor rating sites to find good doctors, better than knowing nothing at all IMO.

I had good luck with Google Maps finding a good oral surgeon after not liking the person my dentist recommended.
People left glowing reviews for him (Google maps find) and they were absolutely right.
I not only had top quality experience but he charged several thousand $$ less than the first oral surgeon quoted.

We moved here 4+ years ago and don't have local knowledge for some things. Google Maps is easy for people to leave comments on because it's used so much.

So far my experience with doctors in Charlotte NC has been better than SW Florida where I had both good and bad doctors.

I had a very bad experience with a ortho surgeon when I first moved to this area. I wrote a honest review about my experience him on HealthGrades but it was taken down after a couple of months, so were three other negative reviews for him, so...

There are so many doctor rating sites that I often have trouble finding the doctor's actual website.

How do you find doctors on Google Maps? I just looked and only saw restaurants, supermarkets and hotels, for example.
