That ringing that only you can hear can become really bothersome if it persists. Here's what triggers tinnitus, plus how you can manage the condition.
There's been lots of talk about ringing in the ears (Tinnitus) on CD over the years.

Most were worthless remedies

Here is some useful information

Tinnitus is usually from noise damage to the ears or Meniere's disease. Some people can get mild tinnitus from a build up of ear wax. One group of Otologists I used to work with performed a dexamethasone perfusion into the middle ear. It helped some people but not others. There is no other treatment that I know of since you cannot get into the inner ear, where the problem begins. It is a hopeless condition for many, and those that have it must learn to live with it.

This is pretty much how it is. I have had it for 30+ years. It varies from one ear, to both ears, from very loud to almost inaudible, etc. Once you have it, 99.9999% of the time it is permanent and untreatable. For some people it is a minor annoyance, for others it leads them to suicide. It can be caused by exposure to loud noises (airbags and guns cause a lot of it), as well as medications. I got mine from antibiotics. Once the little hair like follicles in the inner ear get damaged they can not be straightened. Most of us get by using a variety of masking sounds, avoiding stress, staying fit, avoiding loud noises, etc. It is often accompanied by hearing loss in one or both ears, and many people have tinnitus AND hyperacusis. The latter is a condition where "normal" noises are experienced as being unbearably loud.

Mike, do you have tinnitus? I have it 24/7 and have had it for 40+ years. I do wish there was more research into this condition. I do understand why people commit suicide but I would never go that far. I have hearing loss too so I just tend to isolate from most conversations.

I wonder why this condition is not studied more? I have no idea what I'd do or feel like if my ringing suddenly stopped. For those with tinnitus, I understand and feel your pain.

I've had it on and off since I was a little girl. I thought it was radio waves travelling through my brain that no one else could hear, until I was an adult and learned that "tinnitus" was a thing.

I also have permanent, progressive nerve damage in my ears. The progressivity is slow but if I don't die of old age first, I'll eventually be legally deaf. I wear hearing aids now. It's drastically reduced the frequency and severity of my tinnitus. My audiologist is the one who gave me the heads-up that it would.

There is no singular cause of tinnitus, and therefore there is no singular treatment for it. But for people like me, we can find relief with hearing aids.

I've had it nearly constantly for 56 years (started when I was 14). It's mostly the cicada like noise, but sometimes it changes. I also occasionally get that weird fluttering sensation in my eardrums, mostly when I'm on the phone with someone whose voice seems to trigger it. The tinnitus doesn't usually bother me, but that fluttering does. Sometimes if the ringing is really bad I'll go to YouTube and find a masking audio to listen to for a while. But sometimes that makes it worse.

So you think all the people who took Ginko, Quercetin, Magnesium etc and reported recovery are lying??

I'm guessing you didn't even read through the links

"Leanne@luminexal Aug 19, 2023

I used Ginko Biloba years ago to cure my tinnitus issues......took a few months on strongest dose daily and now take a maintenance does of one a day! Also avoid too much caffeine ie coffee."

"james arcangeli@ArcangeliJames
This maybe nothing , but was just made aware of ginko Bilbao helping with Tinnitus. Looked up the study and realized some the chemical make up of ginko are glycosides. It jumped off the page. Indian pipes are high in glycosides. I ate a Indian pipe. My Tinnitus is gone. This is preliminary but I'll be using it going foward. If my tinnitus stays quiet this might be a thing. Fingers crossed."
