Evidence of an association between cannabis use and cardiovascular events persisted in non-tobacco smokers and younger people at risk of premature cardiovascular disease (men under 55 and women under 65), reported the study authors led by Abra Jeffers, PhD, a data analyst at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.
Now after 80 years of government research, we learn it may be associated with cardiovascular events.
I've been hearing it, and have assumed it carries similar risks to tobacco if smoked in similar quantities, for 5 decades. I don't know where you have been. I formerly smoked a lot, and still take an occasional hit of low THC weed.
I think what we see now is the backlash against all those decades of extreme and largely unfounded claims about it, to where now its a panacea for anything and everything. Equally false, IMO.
Most potheads think it is harmless. Yeah, good luck with that.
Only if they’re in denial. Probably a minority of them. Obviously smoking anything isn’t good for your lungs.
Compared to cigarettes? Well, then marijuana proponents have a leg to stand on.
It’s been suspected for years that marijuana ingestion slightly upped your chances for a heart attack.
I used to smoke occasionally several decades ago and noticed it would increase my heart rate a bit.
Unfortunately this would occasionally trigger a tachycardia disorder I had called PSVT. Bummer man! I gave up pot.
After fixing PSVT with catheter ablation at age 40 this concern was no longer an issue. But after all those years I discovered pot was no longer enjoyable for me, so abstain I remain.
Basically gave up alcohol even earlier than pot. In seemed obviously cardio toxic to me in my teens.
If not then all comparisons to the 'dangers of tobacco' need to end.
Even a few cigarettes per days are really bad for the heart. No, the comparisons don't need to end. Cigs are definitely worse.
