If looking at a lock box, I always recommend a person first go to Knox-Box website and on the product page, complete the basic information as to location. You'll be surprised how many municipal emergency responder agencies have programs when using Knox-Box products.

In my location, I ordered the Knox-Box I wanted and they notify my Fire/EMS of the purchase. First they ship the box with the appropriate access control that the local Fire EMS has and second the Fire Dept sends a person to actual help install it and place my house keys inside. They also complete the emergency notification forms so they know about me, any medical issues, anything else of importance they need to know (do i have 6 tons of C-4 in the basement) and who the heck to call in any emergency.

It is very easy to break into a house, so locking your door may give you a sense of security, but not actual security....If you are living in a condition where you are more likely to require the help of a first responder than to need to keep out a crook too stupid to break a window to gain entry, then just leave the door unlocked....Better to just get robbed than to get robbed and then have to repair the window too.
