You don't know what a night owl is until you meet up with me!

I worked the night shift for 20 years, and I've never gone back to normal, even being retired. I stay up all night long and go to bed around 9-10-11am, get up around 6-7-8pm. And love ever minute of my night owl lifestyle. Long daylight hours are too painful for me to endure.

I tend to go to sleep as do most of the older relatives on my dad's side of the family. My 86 year old father now is getting up at 3:30 AM to exercise and then run at 5 AM.

I inherited Advanced Phase Sleep disorder from my mother:

https://stanfordhealthcare.org/medic...-syndrome.html

I awake every morning by about 4 AM. But I also go to bed early, usually by 7 PM. So I do get plenty of sleep. I had 3 brothers with the same syndrome. I can call them at 5 AM and they'll always be up.

My mother had the same schedule; my early memories of her include her banging pie tins and beaters while making bread or pie at early hours.

I actually think it's advantageous. If I need to shop, nobody is at the store at 6 AM. Parking is also a breeze. Most mornings I read and learn. The internet has made that so easy.

What a glorious time to live!

I usually go to sleep between 11:30 and midnight and wake up between 6 & 7. If I'm really tired and go to sleep earlier, I just wake up at 5 a.m. Since I'm semi-retired I could sleep till 8-9 am if I wanted but nope, by 6:00 or 6:30 I'm awake.

I used to think how wonderful it would be to sleep as long as I wanted when I was in my 20's. My body had other ideas. :-(

Same exact schedule except typically more like 1:30 am for rising time. Work has been so busy the last few years that if I don't get my exercise in before I start, it isn't going to happen. I live most of my day before I clock in at 6 am for work. By the afternoon I am pretty mellow.

On the weekdays I start work at 6am, and two days a week commute into the office, so leave about 5:15am.
So in order to get sufficient sleep, Sunday-Thursday nights I go to bed by about 8:30. On Friday and Saturday nights I will stay up until; 9:30-10pm, but still get up by about 6am when I wake up, no alarm those days.

I try to go sleep around 10:30 p.m. but my wife's night-owlishness, especially the late light in the bedroom, sometimes foils me.

I've learned that I need to be asleep by 10 PM at the latest if I hope to get a good night's sleep as I wake up between 5 and 5:30. I get in bed shortly after 9, read for a few minutes, take some CBD oil and am out within 20 minutes.

I'm another who's day is done when the sun goes down. I would then wake up 1 to 2AM.

For the last month or so, my sleep schedule has been very off. I end up falling asleep around 9AM until the alarm goes off at 1:30 PM to pick my grandson up from school. I'll then sit back on the couch to finish watching something but fall asleep until about 10PM, sometimes later. I feel so exhausted even getting all the sleep I've been getting. It hit me that I was bitten by a deer tic so I'll have to get tested for limes.
