This is what I think, you were constantly supplied with fluids, plump things up, add hydration. Could be!

The hoof beats are probably horses-- as others have said, it might just be lack of daily trauma to your nails--but it could be zebra--

The hyperalimentation accompanied by imroved nails makes one think of a nutritional deficiency corrected by the good supplementation in hosp.

Nail changes can be an important tip-off to underlying disease--

Do your nails appear unusual/abnormal in any way....that might be a good clue as to
what is going on.

But that's a good point.

I eat better at home; hospital food includes lots of white carbs.
My husband does the dishes too, since the derm doc said water immersion was bad for my nails. They were strong and didn't break until a couple years ago, now they have to be cut down to the quick due to breaking. Really frustrating. No change in diet or activities.

Doc said yet another joy of old age. Sigh.

I've discovered this to protect my nails:

https://www.amazon.com/Sally-Hansen-...y%2C295&sr=1-1

You don't have to be an expert to apply it neatly since it is clear. Put a little under the nail also.

I suggest only buying the type in the blue bottle. The pink one is odd.

You may be able to find this for less on another site. Ebay sometimes has it for less.

Well, I've been rather sick since posting this topic, have no energy for anything.
Haven't been able to eat well, either.

Guess what? My nails are growing out!

Sounds like resting is the key to good nail health for you.

I always noticed that at my mom's memory care center, everyone seemed to have fantastic nails. BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T DO ANYTHING.
