Several days ago I was opening the zipper of my luggage to get something out and then I noticed that the middle area of my pinky finger has a raised white line scar under my skin on the pinky. I'm talking about the outer area of the left finger and not the inner area of the left finger. I am not sure how to explain but it is less than an inch and is white and when you touch it, you see like a raised line under the skin and feel it as well. So I had pulled the zipper with my right hand and my left hand was around the area where I pulled the zipper down.

At the moment, there doesn't seem to be any pain. However, is this something to be concerned at and will I need to see a doctor for this? If so, a dermatologist or a trauma specialist? Is this by any chance a keloid scar or hypertrophic scar? However, those scars develop during healing right? This scar/raised line under my pinky finger came about right when I pulled the zipper onto my left pinky.

I can post a picture of it. Will that help? But imagine you pulled the zipper in your luggage with the right hand and your left hand was around the area where you pulled the zipper to. The thing is I didn't even feel any pain at all when it happened and I'm not 100% sure if it was because my left hand was moving at the same time I was moving the zipper with my right hand or if my left hand was just there. If it was a scratch, I wouldn't be concerned but there is like a raised white scar/line underneath the skin and you feel it as well when you touch the area.

Doesn't sound like anything remotely worth a doctor visit, but you are free to do whatever you want. Do you get this anxious about other such minor events?

Well I have had many injuries and cuts before. I never pulled a zipper into my finger though and because there is a raised white line scar on my pinky finger, I wanted to know if this is a concern or not. And if there is a term for this raised white line scar? I googled and can't find anything on this. The thing is there wasn't any blood or anything like that when it happened.

The thing is will this heal? It literally looks like a white scar under my skin and when you touch it, you feel it as well. If it was a scratch or a cut, I wouldn't be that concerned. Do you or anyone know the name of this? Posting a picture would give a good idea?

I remember in college, visiting a friend I met during a summer job who went to school at USC in Los Angeles. She had a date to go to a concert and apologized and said we would do lots of things that week.

I decided to surprise her and clean her kitchen while she was gone. I remember wearing a terrycloth strapless shorts teddy (something you would wear to the beach) and doing her dishes. I picked up a glass and put my hand in it to scrub it and watched in horror as the glass shattered and I saw it separate the skin from my thumb and saw the white bone.

I bled all over her apartment, called a taxi, dripped a blood trail out her door and down the walkway to get to the taxi and went to the nearest hospital to get it stitched up. I remember sitting in the waiting room, it was night time and I was in this strapless teddy with dried blood all over my arm and on my teddy.

When I got home she was terrified. She thought I had gotten murdered and they came and took my body away. lol.

I can still see the scar where I had the stitches on my thumb today.

So the raised white line scar on the pinky finger is still there. It still looks the same and when you touch it, you feel the raised white line scar easily. You can even tell you will feel it when looking at it.

When this happened, there was no blood or pain. There doesn't seem to be any pain. However, should this be a concern or not? I posted a few pictures. You will notice how there is like a raised white line scar on the pinky finger.

Does anyone know the name of this? Is it a scar and if so, what type of scar is it? This raised white line scar pretty much showed up immediately after me pulling the luggage zipper. I am pretty certain I pulled the luggage zipper with my right hand and my left pinky finger was in the area where I pulled the zipper with my right hand into. The thing is if it was a cut and there was blood, I would be less concerned because it would be a cut. I'm not sure what this is called? It's not a scratch because the skin area in my pinky finger is raised. The pinky area looks like if I put a mini toothpick under my pinky skin if you know what I mean. Anyone have advice on this?

To me it looks like nothing to be worried about, but go ahead and see the doctor. YOUR peace of mind is most important.

Well the thing is what is the term for this? I got it immediately when it happened. Also, will this go away?

The thing is would this be considered a scar or not? This isn't considered a cut right? It certainly isn't a keloid or hypertropic scar right since I read these scars take time to develop?

I haven't found anything online that resembles anything like this such as the term. What doctor would one go to for this? A dermatologist or hand doctor or general doctor?

Well the thing is I want to know what it is and if it would go away or not.

Also, I cannot find anything online about anyone injuring their finger with a zipper like this.

Has anyone had this happen or heard of anything like this? Now if it was a cut, well I wouldn't care but there is a raised white line under my skin.
