Second, you might want to think twice about taking medication forever instead of trying to resolve the root problem.
Lots of people use it as a sleeping aid, and lots of people also have trouble sleeping without having "a root problem."

OP, check out some of the many threads on insomnia and its remedies or just find a doctor who will prescribe it.

A couple things: you aren't a teen anymore - don't take someone else's prescriptions, many/most of us of a certain age range wake then - it's life, it happens.

I have struggled with insomnia and anxiety most of my life. My parents told me that as a baby/toddler I was anxious and wouldn't sleep through the night. I'm happy you found something that works for you; and someone to prescribe it.

I've never tried Xanax...

I have too. Since I was a baby and toddler. Valium works for me. Like Xanax, it's an anti-anxiety medication, that is often used for sleep. And doctors prescribe it that way.

Root cause? No insurance covers that. As long as I'm asleep, that's what I need. I have a feeling that some are just wired differently.
