I think checking out the diet used on the 600lb life show in the link below is worth a shot. It's said to work to lose weight fairly quick for people having bariatric surgery.

Fair Overview 2023 of What Is Dr Now’s Diet and How It Can Help You Lose Weight

Quote:
Introduction: What is Dr. Now’s Diet Plan?

What is dr now’s 1200-calorie diet? A very stringent low-carb, low-calorie diet, the Dr. Now Diet. Dr. Nowzaradan is a bariatric surgeon with a practice in Houston who focuses on weight loss surgery for patients with morbid obesity.

His reality television series “My 600-Lb. Life,” which follows the lives of his patients who weigh more than 600 pounds, helped him achieve fame (272 kg). The program chronicles their journey leading up to, during, and following weight loss surgery.

How Does Dr. Now’s Diet Plan Work – Dr. Nows Diet Menu

What is dr now’s diet plan? Real food and limited portions are the two fundamental tenets of Dr. Now’s diet plan. The diet can be challenging to stick to, but anyone who has witnessed the tremendous improvements in his patients can attest that the effort is ultimately worthwhile.

Only two to three meals should be consumed each day, with no snacks in between.
There is a daily cap of 1,200 calories. Therefore, two 600-calorie meals or three 400-calorie meals can be made out of them.
Species: The Dr. The modern diet places emphasis on eating foods high in fiber and protein while limiting carbohydrates and fats.
For breakfast, he suggests whole-grain bread, low-fat cottage cheese, plain Greek yogurt, beans, turkey sausage, oats, and egg whites.
You can barbecue, broil, or bake a lean protein for lunch. You could also have tofu, canned tuna, deli meat, non-starchy veggies, or a salad with vinaigrette dressing. Three ounces, or around the size of a deck of cards, should make up a serving of beef.
The same kinds of cuisine might be served for lunch and dinner.
Snack options include plain Greek yogurt without added sugar and turkey or ham roll-ups.

What Foods Can I Eat while Following Dr Nowzaradan Diet Plan to Lose Weight?

Following Dr. Nowzaradan’s diet plan is a great way to lose weight. To reach your desired result, lean protein should be incorporated into every meal. Low-fat dairy options such as unsweetened yogurt and cheese can also be included in the plan. Fruits and vegetables are also important components of any healthy diet which should be chosen from the list of approved items suggested by Dr. Nowzaradan’s diet plan.

That article seems to contradict itself. Low (actually no) carb, yet eat whole-grain bread? No snacking, yet roll-ups are suggested as snacks?

1200 kcal diet for those weighing 600lbs is a starvation diet. I don't recommend it. Most people will just crash and burn on that diet. Even if you lose a lot of weight, a lot will be muscle, and as soon as you relax, you will pile the fat right back on.

Instead, you should count your calories and make substitutions. Substitute calorie rich foods with low calorie, voluminous foods. Once you make some meaningful reduction in the calories of your diet, wait 2 weeks to 1 month to see if you begin losing weight, weigh in every day. Provided you're losing between 0.5-1% of your body weight a week, don't make alterations. If you are losing less than that, continue to reduce. If you're losing more, that's not good, and even though you want the results today, add back some of the calories you removed back into your diet.

It IS a crash diet just to get these patients down to a weight that would make surgery survivable. The gastric bypass is counted on to result in lasting weight loss.

Right, there's nothing low carb about that diet. I wonder why they used that term.

It's just some random article; I don't know that it's even Dr. Now's diet. Doesn't seem to be.
