I misread. I skipped over the "this morning" and my brain absorbed the "Monday appointment". Sorry about that. I still do agree with you that 3 hours notice is not fair/acceptable. Some people work in situations where they are not permitted to use their phone until lunch time.

I don't call back unless I am not coming and no one has ever cancelled my appointment. I think you need a new dentist.

Also agree with Ghaati - some departments at the company I used to work for did not allow cell phones at your desk. Period. You can't have it until lunch/break. (It was due to cameras - they don't want you taking photos of people's private info - or at least that is what I understood).

If I worked in such a restrictive environment I would make sure I explain to my providers that I can't receive or answer phone calls during work hours. They must email me. Seem to recall every provider's patient profile included questions about how best and when they could contact me. So far, the only confirmation demands I've gotten have been a day or so before the appointment and they allowed at least a day to confirm. Occasionally I'll get a call asking me if I could change my appointment and they needed to know right away. They were dealing with some sort of last minute schedule change.
