I have to see a surgeon at the end of September in 2023.
To give a back story of my issues. In 2014 I saw what I thought looked like a hair in the peripheral vision of my right eye. My daughter who worked for an eye doctor warned me that this was very disturbing. I went right away to her eye doctor who took pictures and saw I had a horseshoe tear in my retina. I had to undergo laser treatment to tack it from tearing further. In the process, this caused a macular pucker. My vision has slowly deteriorated to the point I see double. I saw my ophthalmologist last week who told me that the pucker was a lot worse. He is sending me to a surgeon. He says I need an epiretinal membrane peel. This involves removing the gel from inside my eyeball and peeling the pucker off. They then replace the vitreous fluid with saline. I am very concerned that this could cause my retina to completely tear and cause me to lose my vision in that eye. My doctor insisted if I were his mother he would totally recommend this surgery. I am terrified, to say the least.
I am hoping my post might reach someone who has had a successful operation like this.
