Get a FitBit or something similar that tracks your sleep. You may be pleasantly surprised. Accept that many people need less sleep than they think they do and you may be one of those people.
Limit your screen time and DO NOT check your phone or whatever for an hour before bedtime.
Quit worrying about sleeping - that right there is the biggest contributor to insomnia.
If you wake up, get up - don't lay there in the bed trying to go back to sleep.
Read when you get in the bed - don't scroll through your phone.
Put your phone on Do Not Disturb for the hours you don't want to take calls or notifications.
I have a partner but we do not live together and are on different work schedules, so she will more often in the week go to bed at a different time than me. But I can try it with her when we have a night to ourselves, and see, thanks.
I will watch the video, thanks. As for maybe only needing 4-5 hours a night, it's just I still feel tired after, so I thought maybe I need more therefore, but maybe I'm wrong.
I don't think you are wrong. I think you need more than 4-5 hours.
I can give you a few tips. My issue is due to hormone blockers but I have tried everything under the sun. Melatonin makes it worse for me. I have vivid dreams and never get into a deep sleep. No light of any kind in room, sleep mask, and weighted blanket. I find that the blanket keeps me from tossing and turning and waking myself up.
Oh okay. Melatonin also gives me nightmares or dreams that will jar me to wake up a lot.
I've tried the weighted blanket and even though the sleep feels good with it, I still wake up after 4-5 hours though. So the blanket still does not stop that from happening.
The mask makes it worse though, because I find myself waking up more when wearing the mask.
I was told that maybe my sleep problem is from looking at screens, and I work at a computer at my job for most of the day. But is it common for screens to cause a person to wake up after 4-5 hours though, as opposed to having trouble falling asleep?

Have you thought of the possibility that maybe something is waking you? Is there someone else there with you making loud noises, a dog, sleep apnea, a neighbor, a mouse, or even a ghost, lol?
jimhamilton: I have my Sleep Remedy in the Alternative Medicine area here, and I sleep 8-10 hrs nightly but worked on my routine. Look at this and could be all or some of what I'm taking could help you get good healing sleep.
