Thanks . Well it's usually interested for me to fall asleep, it's just staying asleep for more than 4-5 hours is the problem. My problem is not falling asleep, it's staying asleep without waking up. Is there anyway I can sleep longer and not wake up?
I doubt working at a computer during the workday is affecting how long you sleep at night. Now if you take your work home and continue to work later at night, that's different. For many people, staring at screens (TV, computer, even phones) too late can keep them awake. However, this doesn't seem to be your problem. You can fall asleep initially, but wake up after a few hours. Many people I've talked to find getting more regular exposure to true sunlight, more daily exercise (doesn't need to be intense), and sticking to a pre-bedtime routine helps regulate their sleep/wake cycles. All those things are free! More information about it:
Yes that is the problem. No problem falling asleep but wake up after a few hours but still tired and feel like I need more sleep. I can't even remember the last night where I felt like I got enough sleep without waking up. Does anyone know what this could be the result of?
Regular exercise and a proper healthy diet can help you. I always prefer following a healthy lifestyle as the best medicine for such problems occurring in life.
This is literally the only reason I clicked on this link.
Yep, me too. I've been having a lot of fun with the whole depravity/deprivation thing.
OP, are you able to pinpoint a cause of what wakes you up? Do you have to go to the bathroom? Are you too hot? Too cold? If you share a bed with your partner, ask her if you snore during the night. It's possible (not based on anything you've said, just possible in general) that you have some form of sleep apnea, which will cause a person to wake up during the night.
If you're able to pinpoint a certain something that is causing you to wake up, you might be able to address that issue before going to bed. Good luck to you. I'm not too familiar with sleep depravity, but sleep deprivation is a real pain and a serious issue.
I understand you are not a "pot person", neither am I as far as smoking it. I can't stand it.
"Getting high" is not a goal of mine, but I learned if I have an edible around 6 pm, I can feel mellow all evening AND sleep straight through all 8 or even 9 hours.
Without it, I do exactly the same as you, and have for many years until the edibles. Sleeping 4 hours and awakening, unable to go back to sleep until dawn sometimes.
A cool, very dark room helps too. Reading my Kindle in bed for a bit before sleeping puts me in "sleep mode" too.
