I had cataract surgery on my right eye two weeks ago and I was given Propofol along with a retro-bulbar block.

I remember the block. Clearly. Actually had a nice conversation with the surgeon while he did it. I remember being wheeled into the OR. I commented that every OR I had ever been wheeled into (there have been several) had a speed bump at the doors. The nurse said she never thought of it that way.

The nurse had me reposition myself on the table and then I was waking up - asked the nurse if I had any anesthesia and she told me "He gave you a little Propofol". In 20 minutes I had a drink, used the facility, got my discharge instructions and was in the car on the way home.

Talking with my son on the ride home and only later did I recall bits and pieces of that conversation. I understand the reason they tell patients not to make any important decisions that day. LOL I have had Propofol, versed, fentanyl and lord only knows what all. I don't seem to have suffered any bad effects from any of them.

This is true - all I've done all day is wallow around on the sofa with an afgan, pillows, a glass of tea, and an ice pack!

Now I have a low grade fever but apparently that's normal after surgery. Keeping an eye on it. I don't think the Versed had anything to do with it.

It was very effective as a "relaxer," I know that much. Very smooth and I didn't feel groggy or confused, which was nice.

Right - I had all that, plus morphine, and then Tylenol with codeine - NO MAJOR DECISIONS, that's for sure. I felt like I was fine but in retrospect I think I was sort of loopy.

It seems like when I had my embolization they gave me a mixture of Versed and Dilaudid. I remember at first I got very chatty, and was talking to the nurse about all sorts of things, then as it kicked in more I just sort of went into a trance. I was able to hear the doctor talking, and I could make small movements he asked me to do, but I couldn’t really feel anything, no pain at all.

I'm surprised. I spoke to my eye doctor's anesthesiologist and they will be using Propofol. (I have a severe eye phobia going back to grade school when a kid next to me had his eye sliced while passing mimio sheets)
and I want to be as deep as possible as early as possible

As for Versed, I love it. If I would ever become a drug user, my drug of choice would be Versed
