I think we will eventually find out smoking wasn't quite as bad for us as the made out.
I found out recently a lot of doctors now believe HPV causes lung cancer. Imagine if smoking was falsely blamed.
I respectfully disagree. I smoked, and personally can still feel the negative effects. I don't really care what causes lung problems, but I can say for sure that cigarettes do.

When we moved to another area we needed to have our CPA use certified to Medicare to continue getting our supplies. Everything was fine but they pushed hard for new sleep studies and equipment although we brought our written reports with us and had a qualified supplier. Those sleep studies are more than $5,000 each so I smelled a big rip off. They attempted to decline to certify the usage to Medicare until we jumped through their hoops so I called Medicare and was told they would pay if it was medically necessary which I knew it wasn't. I called the sleep doctor's office and asked them to explain why the new tests were "medically necessary". They couldn't certify our CPAP usage fast enough!
Always ask the "doctors" to explain why something is medically necessary.

I know enough who have lost their lives much younger and were smokers. And a good friend who quit about 30 yrs ago and is left with many lung related health issues. Many smoking MJ from a young age, wonder how long they will be alive. I'd "kinda" like to try MJ for pain but want nothing to do with inhaling anything in my lungs but clean air.
I just had my gallbladder out on New Year’s Day. I went to the ER, 2 days before, knowing I had gallstones and expecting to have it out that day.
The surgeon on call thought my symptoms suggested something less straight forward, so he ordered several other tests. He was right, but at the time I felt as though a bunch of tests were just delaying the inevitable.
Coincidentally, while in the hospital, I received an email with a cartoon that made me laugh. A patient was sitting on the exam table with an arrow through his head. In the caption, the doctor said, “I think I know the cause of your headache, but we want to get a few tests just to make sure.”
I am actually ok with ER tests. You come in and could have a zillion potential problems. The issue is acute and they need to find out quickly. It also not that often. It is more the lazy GPs that I have an issue with.

On these tests, when I was recently in hospital/rehabs, the team of doctors at the hospital did almost every test but an MRI which 2.5 months later showed the staph infection in my knee. Had they done that MRI early on, one of the first tests, I could have been out of the rehabs about 2 months sooner. Talk about that nightmare I went thru due to NOT doing the test that showed the infection.

Insurance is probably to blame for this. Many times, insurance companies make you jump through a few hoops before they’ll pay for an MRI.

Penny wise, pound foolish. It cost plenty more to keep me in rehabs for 4.5 months vs perhaps the 2 maybe once the staph infection started to get cured. The stack of copays are around here collecting dust. The raging infection going on for months in my knee has about disabled me.

Angiograms/angioplasty are outpatient procedures these days. Not much risk involved anymore. Talk to his doctor about it. I'm having an angiogram on my leg in a couple weeks. I'll report to the hospital at 630 am, will be eating lunch at home that day.
I know they are have been for years my father had stents put in and even grandfather had several of them even after 90 each time he had chest pain went into the Emergency Department. The point is should it even be done if it isn't required people who have no symptoms and never had a prior heart attack I don't see the point in someone who is 85 years old if he was 55 years old I would agree with what needs to be done.
I'm sure there are risk I know my grandfather had bleeding where they put the stent it took a few hour of nurses pushing down on his chest with lot of weight to stop he said it was terribly uncomfortable and painful.

I have just decided to skip listening to them. If I think an MRI is needed I just look up what symptoms will get me that and fake them.
If they want to be ridiculous... I can be too.
Ok guess I was wrong on the smoking thing but I did say not as bad as we thought -- not that smoking isn't bad.
