Hi,

I've suffer from Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Chronic Pain Syndrome. I was diagnosed 3 years ago and since that time, I've been referred to more than 10 doctors and still no treatment. I've seen Pain Management doctors, Neurologists and Rheumatologists. Some doctors say they don't treat fibro, others give me a couple of prescriptions and when they don't work, they send me elsewhere. I've even had one doctor that never showed for the appointment.

As one can imagine, I'm in a tremendous amount of pain all of the time and now have limited mobility. If you've had success with fibro treatment, can you please share your doctor's name?

Thanks

I don't think there are these doctors per se, but some MD's who try to work with these syndromes.

Moderator cut: lots of off topic stuff

I'll send you a couple support groups I've been on and off since 1999.

Unless you state your area, it won't help if someone in Ca. has a great Dr. and you are in Fl.!

I suggest searching for fibromyalgia support groups, there is likely one somewhere in your area - that's the best way to get a recommendation on doctor(s) in your area. There are also online groups.

I have not been diagnosed positively , but my Rheumatologists has been very attentive to my needs. He runs his own blood work in his office, and monitors my medication very carefully. Not sure of my condition yet, CFS or Fibro. So far , pinched nerve has been the diagnosis, but he has me on gabapentin medication. It has helped some. I am also on a vitamin regimen . specifically vitamins D and B.

I would suggest you find a Rheumatologist, that is older, and understand the conditions like you have mentioned. As you may know, being diagnosed of the illnesses you have mentioned, is not easy. There is not specific medical test that says "hey you have this". The doctors go more by history, tender points on your body, and other medical conditions that will contribute to the illness. They would try to rule out Lyme disease among other things.

to ease some of the pain , I would recommend long warm showers with the pulsating shower head and heating pads. I would also recommend you get into some light exercise, and try to take walks every day. Some activity is better than no activity. I know from my experience, I get drowsy twice during the day, and that walk or physical activity does help loosen the muscles.
