I think that it may be happening to me but I don't know for sure what causes it. anyone have a case of constipation caused by spicy foods?

For me, it would be the opposite, loose bowels.

I totally agree; hot spicy foods normally will go right through most people.

Either way, I find I always know exactly where that food is in the transit through my GI tract after I eat it.

I remember as a kid, hearing daddy say, boy I love those hot peppers but I sure know the next day when I have eaten them. I had no idea what he was talking about. Then I became a lover of spice and I knew exactly what he meant.

Default to Nickerman on Constipation

Nickerman, I have same problem. If I eat anything that is hot, that has like hot pepper for instance Cayenne pepper or hot sauce, I get really constipated. The funny thing is, I read that cayenne pepper is supposed to help relieve constipation, not cause it. Black pepper doesn't constipate me. I used to be able to eat all kinds of hot stuff without any ill effects, Have you determined a cause for it?
