Medical tourism makes sense for any procedure not covered by insurance, i.e., cosmetic or weight loss surgeries.

My ex went down to the Dominican Republic for a tummy tuck and his family kept trying to get me to talk him out of it but since he'd already left me I knew I wouldn't have any say in the matter. He got fixed up, had a good surgery with good results, and actually did enjoy the country some while he was there. I think it was mainly sitting by the pool but better than sweating it out at home. I guess I'm trying to say they were very professional.

Another friend got all his mercury fillings replaced while he was in Macedonia and they were very modern and hygienic and about 1/10 the price. And yes, he was able to enjoy the country. Dental can be brutal but generally one recovers fairly quickly.

Or for people who are suffering and don't want to wait for years.

Is America the only country where the citizens simply assume that anywhere that isn't America, Western Europe, Canada and Australia isn't up the golden "American Standards"?

Why would a hospital in Mexico, India or even Africa automatically be less qualified than a random hospital in St. Louis or Topeka?
