I haven't had any real flares in about a year, started allopurinol in March of 2022. My uric acid is about 5.2 mg/dl now which is well below the target of 6, so I shouldn't be getting any more flares as long as I stay on it. My Uric Acid levels were never terribly high, so I'm able to get away with a pretty low dose, less than half what most gout patients take. I'm also not overweight like some are, which can increase uric acid even more in addition to the genetic component.
