I only get it when I accidentally fall asleep in my chair at work and then wake up suddenly. I thought it was a stress thing because I am nervously awaking as I am obviously not supposed to dozing on the job.

Hi,
Years have passed since your first post of this thread, did you find out what your yellow vision was from? Did it go away by itself?

I came across your post by google searching "yellow vision". I had exactly the same thing you describe for a couple of months. The intense yellow when first waking up was very alarming. So much so that I didn't mention it to my doctor, for fear he would think I was nuts. It is a relief to read this thread and see that several people have experienced the same thing.

I didn't have any jaundice of my skin or eyes, so the yellow vision coming from bile did not occur to me. The weirdest thing with the yellow vision was that it was for only about 5-10 seconds and then it went away. It going away like that made it impossible to evaluate . I thought it was from cataracts, but as someone else mentioned, the yellow would be there all the time, not just when you woke up if it was from cataracts. For me it wasn't every time I woke up but maybe seven or eight times over a period of a few months. Not just yellow, but neon yellow, florescent yellow, shocking yellow.

Fast forward; I had my gallbladder out three weeks ago and haven't had the yellow vision again, so far. I didn't have any jaundice or gallstone attacks, I had some constant pain for years and finally a doctor ordered a scan and advised having my gallbladder out because there were gallstones. After surgery he said that the scan didn't tell a complete story, that my gallbladder was just about full up with gallstones and I was heading towards a ruptured gallbladder if I hadn't had it taken out. I told him that by coincidence, our little 12 year old bichon frise dog had a ruptured gallbladder last summer. The doctor was very surprised to hear that but didn't have anything to say about it. No, the dog and I do not eat the same things. Regarding the yellow vision I have experienced and the dog, at first I thought the dog had terrible jaundice that for some reason only showed up when I first woke up and looked at her. After a few times of that happening I saw the spots on our white bedding, and realized that if the dog had jaundice it wouldn't be as bright as what I was seeing. One day when I woke up, it was just the bottom of her two front paws that were florescent yellow. I thought she had thrown up bile, which she actually does from time to time, and the vomit is close to the color I was seeing when I wake up. There were black lumps in the florescent yellow and I figured it was undigested dog kibble. Being in a half asleep state, I poked at a black lump and the lumps were the dogs paw pads and the yellow was the bottom of her paws! That is how real the illusion was.

I don't know if there is a connection, but since I haven't had any more episodes of yellow vision since my gallbladder was removed, I believe that my sick gallbladder was what caused me to see bright yellow when first waking up. If I have another episode of yellow vision I will write an update.

Has anybody else here come up with a physical reason for their yellow vision?

Hi: I've been seeing yellow flashing across my computer screen while trying to read text. It's happening in both eyes as I tried to cover each one at a time. It's not happening while walking around or anything else. I have small cataracts, but, this is in both eyes that I see yellow. I am calling my eye doctor tomorrow to get in there asap. I've had a torn retina in the past and know the symptoms of it and a detached retina. As I mentioned, this is in both visual fields. Help!

Do you take any eye support supplements? I've been probably for 10+ yrs and I'll be 81 soon. And one should really address the dry eyes.

It's very common in Windows 10 but all video monitors can tint toward their basic colors, such as yellow, green, or red.

This morning I woke up seeing yellow. It's probably the fourth time it's happened in the last 3 or 4 years. There are no hallucinations, only the bright yellow vision. If I close my eyes for a few minutes it goes away, and it never lasts long. I'm 25, I snore if that matters. I'm generally healthy, though a bit underweight. I don't think my life is all that stressful, definitely not recently. I haven't been to the doctor for this yet, and honestly I'm not all that worried about it.

For about the last 304 weeks, I have been seeing yellow when i wake up. I know it sounds odd. When I wake up, when I'm half-awake and not quite "with it" I see bright yellow light. I don't mean spots, I mean it looks like the wall or door or whatever is a bright yellow. Once i thought the house was on fire! I usually wake up when dh gets up, he says I often ask if there's something yellow in the room.

This morning I went out to the kitchen, my dd said I asked if there was a yellow light on. I don't remember that. Later this afternoon, I was taking a nap, woke up and thought my dd was in my room with a boquet of yellow flowers, she insists she wasn't even home at that time.

What on earth could this be? I never "see yellow' when fully awake, only when coming out of sleep. Could there be something wrong with my eyes? Anyone ever hear of this before?

So, for 5.846 years you haven't seen a doctor and are asking an anonymous web forum?

I had similar a few days, in one eye only. Things were a different color in each eye. Myeye doctor found nothing, blamed emotional stress.

Also, ask your everyday doctor, might have been a mini-stroke.
