Get a load of this: Pee during the night up to 10 times. Been doing this for 10 years. Keep a bucket next to the bed.

Your 1st reaction is to say: "Well that's no surprise; the guy's old as dirt and probably has a bulging prostate." Yeah, I am older than dirt but MDs have described the prostate as small or normal. PSA is barely above zero. Hmmmm.

I do drink at least 7 diet sodas a day, most of which are caffeinated. Hmmm. They must be the culprit. But on Sat. and Sunday, in addition to all the sodas, I also put down 8 alcoholic drinks (4 on Saturday and 4 on Sunday). Urination on those two nights is once or at most twice!

The docs can't figure it out including a kidney specialist. The diet -- eating wise -- is different on Sat. and Sun., so maybe that's the answer.

We can have a problem with FLUID retention as is my case. I drink very little fluids while understand that a person needs a certain amount of water that works to flush the system (so to speak).

Five hrs after going to bed will wake up to do my thing....a guaranteed ritual.

I am also well above in years so do have a mild Prostate situation along with a small kidney stone.

Best solution would be to remember that whatever goes in must also come out eventually as a few here have found.

COLD TURKEY on the fluids for 2-3 days and compare the results.

When raising my brood decades ago my wife cut down on the kids fluids at 6PM and would get them out of bed to empty before we went to bed and guess what.........DRY bed sheets.

interesting thread where there are so many one-time posters with the same problem. Reading the entire thread would be helpful for those folks.

Cranberry juice cocktail contains a lot of sugar and cranberry is usually not the most prevalent juice in those bottled concoctions. REAL organic cranberry juice is more expensive, and not quite as readily available, but it's not that hard to find. Where I live it can be found at Albertson's and several other supermarkets, as well as specialty stores such as Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, Sprouts, or Sunflower Farm Markets.

It's difficult to drink straight cranberry juice by itself, since it is very sour. But if you get a bottle of the good stuff it can be added to plain water to your taste for each glass of water that you drink all day (start with a tablespoon). If it's impossible for you to drink much even cranberry pills, widely available in the vitamin sections at drug stores and other markets (Costco has them), are better than a sweetened juice.

That said, please see a urologist. You're too young for a weak bladder and malfunctioning kidneys is a SERIOUS problem. Good luck.
It's not that sour...better to add a bit of sugar or sweetener than dilute it - the acidity is what makes it work.

That said, men rarely get UTIs because their urethra is so much longer than women's that bacteria can't make it up to the bladder very easily - yes, that extra 6 inches makes a big difference. Unless you're doing weird stuff to introduce bacteria it's probably something else.

But this is really getting me mad beacusse i have to get up every few minutes to pee duirng my sleep at night. I'm not drinking any more or less water. I'm 22 years old.
OP, I am recovering from the exact same problem. I had to pee every 15-20 minutes or so for years. I thought that it was an enlarged prostate. 2 weeks ago had to ho to the ER because I couldn't pee at all and it burned like hell. Was diagnosed with prostatitis and went on a 3 month course of Bactrim, an antibiotic. Pleased to say that I can now not feel the urge for up to 2 hours.

So, bottom line is that although I had regular visits to the Urologist giving urine specimens for years that this problem was present they failed to diagnose it until I had to go to the ER.
