Hi there,

I'm driving from Vermont to Floyd, VA next week, checking out Floyd as a potential place to relocate to. I would love to stop in a small town in PA that isn't too far off the beaten track on the way. I hadn't considered PA for relocation until I looked into places to overnight in, and now realize you have a lot of lovely small town.

A bit more about us and what we hope to find. We are in our 50's, no kids, trying to build a more resilient/sustainable life which has always been of interest but now feels imperative. Medical freedom (no mandates or vast majority of people who are strongly supportive of that) is important to us. Until a few years ago, we'd be considered democratic but the experience from the past two years has changed our minds and hearts. We are not religious (but not against it at all of course).

We are into things like:

- Regenerative gardening
- Beautiful landscape/area (a town without strip malls etc.)
- Simple lifestyle (we're not big consumers)
- Community spirit - people helping each other/friendly/approachable
- Farmer's markets/local live music/a place to gather and get to know folks over a cocktail

We'll be looking for a house on 10+ acres (mix of wooded/pasture) within a 10 mile radius of a pretty small town that has a good organic grocery store, a few pubs, restaurants, farmer's market, friendly store keepers, etc.

We both work from home so don't need to find a job.

When searching for "prettiest small towns in PA" Litiz, Jim Thorpe, & York came up but these might be tourist traps vs. a good place to call home....I don't know.

Thanks so much for any recommendations!

On the way to Virginia, suggest you check out Chambersburg and Mercersburg. A little farther afield in northwest, PA suggest Corry, Edinboro and Greenville. In central PA, suggest Lewisburg and Bellefonte. Good luck in your search.

Try visiting either Danville or Wellsboro.

Lititz has been trashed by overdevelopment. Too many refugees from Philly, NYC and Baltimore are flooding into Lancaster and Lebanon counties so don’t waste your time.
