Harrisburg metro gets about 7k new residents each year from other Northeast metros, the most of any small/mid-size metro in the Northeast.

Harrisburg has its bright spots, for sure. Among other things, it has an excellent dining scene relative to its size. If only Dickinson (or, at least, a Dickinson-like liberal arts college) were anchored to the urban core a la F&M and Lancaster.

The suburbs are less impressive. Hershey/Derry Township and Camp Hill Borough are the big standouts. The Cumberland Valley School District has some affluent areas, but they’re more generic second ring upper middle class sprawlburbia.
