Winston-Salem is one of the top cities for young professionals in the IT industry, according to a new ranking by Right Click, an online newsletter of Verizon focusing on technology news and guides.
Winston-Salem is ranked 3rd on the list of the best cities in the U.S. for young IT professionals, which noted the city’s business and arts scene, along with the presence of Wake Forest University.

I saw this a few days ago, earlier...the site ranked 542 cities. Data on the top 100 are listed on the Right Click site. I sure wouldn't have expected Savannah to be #2. Not as surprised to see San Antonio #1 though.
I am really loving the emerging Baily Park and Power Plant scene. It is becoming the epicenter of the City.
I work in this area, and the transformation from just a few years ago is amazing. And there are many more projects in progress or on the books. It's great to see such a formerly run-down area getting a nice makeover.
Cool! Hopefully, this will translate into many more sustainable IT jobs for people, not just transplants, but Winston-Salem natives. It'd also be nice if these positions create economic growth in sectors outside of service jobs as was the case back when RJR and Wachovia were the economic center of the city.
U.S. News analyzed 125 metro areas in the U.S. to find the best places to live based on quality of life and the job market in each metro area, as well as the value of living there and people's desire to live there.
Winston-Salem ranked No. 43, with high scores in desirability and value. Greensboro ranked No. 60, with high scores in value and quality of life.
Other North Carolina cities cracked the top 25 — with Raleigh and Durham ranking No. 13, Charlotte at No. 22 and Asheville at No. 24.
