Projects can be talked about but talk doesn't get those things built.

that's two downtown hotel plans so far that appear to be a done deal. great news!

It seems that a building permit has been issued. CN Hotels will be building the Hampton Inn and Suites. The Guilford County GIS website shows that "Greensboro Downtown Hotel Inc" now owns the property at S Greene St in downtown Greensboro and it gives the mailing address of CN Hotels. According to the deed date, CN Hotels quietly purchased that property 12/18/2014.

I know the developer asked the city for incentives and city council approved them. Financing doesn't seem to be an issue and Wyndham Hotels and Resorts is on board with the project. I think its timing. Randall Kaplan's group wants the hotel open in time of the opening of the Steven Tanger Center for the Performing Arts.

Exclusive: Lincoln Financial planning renovation of iconic Triad office building

Lincoln Financial planning Jefferson Standard building multimillion dollar renovation - Greensboro - Triad Business Journal

It will be interesting to see what they do with that design, as i am a big fan of that building.

Also, 13.3 m High point road renovation, this is how it will look after, there was a ground breaking ceremony this morning.

Looks really nice.

The LF building was the focal point in some of the photos in my calendar for 2015. This kind of investment favors LF staying downtown which is good news.

I found an old aerial photo of Greensboro which shows the original O'Henry Hotel and King Cotton Hotel, both demolished. Greene Street use to look a lot like South Elm Street.

King Cotton Hotel

O'Henry Hotel

Next time you are in need of a watch battery, band, or jewelry repair stop in Gregory's at the corner of Elm/McGee. While you're there check out all the old photos he has of downtown Greensboro. Some pretty cool stuff.
