Hadn't heard this story before. A scam / flop that eventually took hold because of particular employers. Growth slowed recently but might take off again imo. SoCal market has a spot for such a place, at near the bottom.
50ish miles to Lancaster, 68 to Bakerfield and 110 to Los Angeles isn't that bad for weekend entertainment compared to some other places. Not that many places have a lot of weeknight entertainment or people pursuing it outside their house and outside dinner or drinking. NetFlix is the same in posh suburbs or a desert outpost (or at least the ones with decent internet service).
Telosa proposes screening the first 50,000 for compatability with vision and diversity... but everything is a proposal and hard to say how much demand they'll get and what they'll settle for. Unapproved residents could be an issue without robust tracking / policing, within the limits of applicable law.
The libertarian crypto focused proposal for the Mediterranean coast seems very committed to strict screening for like minded / like living elite.
But history shows that plans and realities can vary.
2.5 years after initial press release about a plan, there has been no announcement of a site. There are no public indications of current negotiations with a state or locality.
Neither Telosa or Praxis have shown any solid recent evidence of going beyond a plan.
