Days where travel is challenging

Hello,
We are still looking to move to either GR or GH, but my husband has to either travel to or from the airport approximately 4-6 times per month. Generally speaking, how many days each winter are challenging commutes due to weather? Other than the trips to the airport, we don't HAVE to go anywhere on a particular day. We've lived with snow/ice, but much more minimal than the Grand Rapids area (PA and KS), and snowstorms/ice were fairly infrequent and really only disrupted travel a handful of days each winter.

Keep in mind that I'm saying this through the lenses of someone who lives in GR. The lake effect snow seems to add measurable snow (more than an inch) an extra 7-10 days in the winter on top of normal winter storms that dump snow in the midwest IMO. And that varies depending where in West Michigan you live. GH would see the most, Western suburbs of GR as well, the Eastern suburbs of GR the less of those areas.

The extra days of measurable snow can vary from a couple inches to a foot in a day. Once the snow stops, the road crews are excellent at clearing snow in the populated areas IMO again. YMMV.
